Prose – Urban Nature

– Urban Nature –

When I was just a very little girl,
I lived in the depth of the Greenwood.
It was a wild and untamed country,
yet I was not afraid of that wilderness.
My father taught me never to fear
the darkness of the woods at night.
He taught me that the wilder spaces
are the safest places to be,
that it is the human animals of the urban jungle
who are far more vicious and likely to harm me.
