Prose – The Good Fight

– The Good Fight –

1 : The Conflict of Self

You are The One Within Me that cannot feel joy, nor beauty nor pleasure. You make the choice to be beautifully hurt, to be pleasured by that pain. You are The One that starts me through this endless cycle; And I am the one that must end it. It is a constant challenge, rising to meet yourself each day in equal combat. But were there not such conflict of self, what challenge would we rise to change?

2 : The Illusion of Safe Space

We claim so much space; We claim so much of it to be made safe in our twisted visions. But so often when we truly find it, we realize that kind of safety isn’t really what we want, and we run screaming from our precious and stagnant stability; We slip comfortably into to the smoky gaslighting of our inner demons, because only they can hurt us in the ways we want them to. Only they can comfort us with all of those sweetest self deceptions.

3 : The Shifting

These pieces of us are eternally in flux, reformed each day into new shape. We are only ever a representation of our collective aspects formed into a given human space, a selective recombination of self, a reconciliation of our dissembled parts made whole as moments needed. Without true shape of ourselves to become fixed in time, we form over and over again each day as new beings, to face each new journey in whatever way we must.

4 : The Good Fight

Despite the sometimes volatile nature of our alters, and the fight against unity that they may bring upon us, it is this fight which gives us the endurance to form a lasting change. Every day that we make the choice to persevere, to strive forward, we are becoming more than those limits which we have placed upon ourselves. Fight the good fight, fight your own fight, for your own authenticity; Or someone else will surely try to fight you down.
