– The Curse of Light –
The shape of me is broken
and I need to feel you closer,
the beat of your heart clearer than my own,
now only ever heard when pounding,
blood roaring like tides through my ears.
My soul is still burning for you,
lightning little fires everywhere around me,
leaving a trace of ashes at my feet
to disperse in the winds of time.
It is my curse that I am made
of such vibrant light
that I must sometimes
walk alone within the darkness,
so that I do not blind
those who may walk with me.
And I would not fear that darkness,
but that you would show me
the compassion of your forgiveness
should I choose to abdicate this human flesh,
to dissipate freely into the aether
as any other creature
of this cursed light may do.
