Prose – Diminishing Dominance

– Diminishing Dominance –

We are a perfect model
of defiance and dissent.
I am full of disdain for you,
despite my desire in kind.
When we speak we do battle,
words with edges sharper than swords,
making cuts in us which leave the deepest marks.
We rally our hearts with fire
for those colder days between us,
fuelling our connection with rage,
where once it was filled by joy and loving.
I am never dissatisfied with my connection to you,
but anything worth saying now has lost all words.
Let us put rest to our defiant natures,
finding our forgiveness in peace of mind.
Let us be done with speaking in these endless tongues,
and strive to know only the softness of silence.
