Prose – The Gravity of Longing

– The Gravity of Longing –

When everything in my world
turns to face the sunshine,
the shape of those things lost in shadow
becomes even more prominent.
My corporeal form burns away,
torn apart by the pull of a stronger singularity.
Drawn toward your gravity,
I crave your stability.

I am colliding with my faith,
trapped in the path of crossing stars.
I have become lost
in the vastness of space and time,
and only the flare you cast upon me
is bright enough to reach where I have fallen.

I drift onward with hope
to pass into your orbit again.
If such a powerful gravity
can pass so close to me
and still maintain its’ critical stability,
I must trust that the shape
of my universe is as it should be.
I turn from the memory of that star crossed sky
and wait for you on the horizon
until I have overcome the gravity of longing.
