– Scorched Earth –
The ground on which I walk quivers
with these doubtful reverberations,
shaking my resolve and leaving me
with so many reservations.
My mind and heart have been iron forged
within the fires of torment and despair;
I feed upon that pain
like the Greenwood feeds
upon earth, water and air.
I walk this world alone,
my deepest secrets closely kept.
I follow in the path you’ve made for me,
my feet scorched at ever step.
But for however much you seek to hurt me,
it can only ever make me stronger.
However much I long for loving,
it is the burning of my heart
for which I will live longer.
