Prose – A Modern Babylon

– A Modern Babylon –

I am the urban Moses,
parting the sea of faces
that move before me,
a traffic of bodies
that so easily displaces
the walls of this modern Babylon.

It always seems to be
that the highest of class among us
reflects the most brutality.
Do you really know how it feels
to be only one of me,
yet make myself into a dozen,
split and molded out of you?
