– Journeyman –
I watch the nightwalkers shamble onwards in their solitary travels. They are years upon years without a history, a scattering of pages that they cannot seem to organize, and my life has been torn out from that book of ages.
My journey is my only friend. Everything that I have had is built from scraps, yet made to last. And what a cruel fate it must be that so late into my history, I should have to start over. This journey cannot be for nothing now.
So let me live to see life sparkle. Let me live to see that light shining in the world, to share what time that I have left with those whom I have loved along the way. This is the path that we have made together. We are alive, and that love will exist forever in our memory.
And if you should bury me, place me high atop your tower, my headstone as a beacon standing tall against the hills, never to lay flat, never to be walked upon unkindly, never to be lost beneath the tangle of grass and brambles. For the flat stone is only for those of us who will be forgotten, only for those of us who will be overlooked under those weeds which overgrow those paths across the gardens of time.
