– Connectivity –
I walk this empty world to find you;
Passing through falling towers,
I travel roads of shattered glass
made smooth by acid showers.
I’ve been walking far too long
on this cold concrete.
I have forgotten the feeling
of the earth beneath my feet.
I sift heavy through scatters of debris;
These pieces of me are left behind
to fill the space between us.
Our stories are reflected
in these brilliant fragments;
But we have paved them over
to make all things new,
with the city as a blank slate
that is never quite clean.
Against the distances of time,
I will walk this ground with you
until at last it crumbles.
I will stand and hold this place for you,
however unsteady the spaces between us may be.
