– Cold Truths –
I need a sense of solidarity
to repair my self identity.
I am too afraid of you
to act too positively now,
to place any more trust in the motivations
for your more dangerous expressions.
I can no longer indulge myself
in forgiving your past mistakes.
I cannot fill your empty heart
in shedding these bitter tears.
I cannot withhold from you
the weight of all the years
that you have been stranded
by those secret fears.
You would make safe for me
a place to rest my weary soul;
But you are red on white,
bearing blood in winter snow.
Your truth is burning cold,
with my bare hands frozen
from where they have rested
for far too long upon you.
