Prose – Persona Non Gratia

– Persona Non Grata (The Unwelcome) –

Ingrata – (Unwelcome)

I am complimentary when unsolicited, altruistic yet indulgent. I am not your guiding star, nor your loyal and devoted lover; I am only your equal, and to see me as any more than my own worth is an objectification of that illusory self.

In Gratis – (In Freedom)

I have no wish to conceal my shapeshifting personas. I’m the worst bad actor in the whole room, and somehow you’re still looking straight past me, at the version of me you want to see. I am constantly changing my faces, a fluid movement in perfect poise. I am split with open fractures, and forever falling backward through the cracks of me.

In Gratia – (In Grace)

I am so often beholden to your appreciation of my better emotions, for to accept me as I am is to accept the infraction that runs within yourself. Regardless of the limitations, I consent to your approval of my self restraint. I will remain in compliance with the resistance which upholds your own sense of self enlightenment.
