Prose – Anaxagoras (The Assembly)

– Anaxagoras (The Assembly) –

I call the scholars
to our final order;
Stand fast at the gates
as the armies of the common man
begin to storm against us,
as they begin to set their adoration
upon the follies of former beliefs.

Their Gods have spoken;
What power in knowledge
that we have held together
is now but a legend,
our legacy of discovery
has been broken,
and our future lies in exile.

What damage done must we now endure?
What darkness of ages now awaits us,
here at the end times of our Arcadia?
