Prose – Oneiros

– Oneiros –

I am the iconoclast;
The shaper of freedom,
the breaker of forms.
I rest in the place
where old bones creak
like winds in the branch.
Where dried flesh cracks
like cliffs of aged stone.
I stake my throne in claim
upon the dreams of man
to reveal the truest nature
underneath that thinner skin.
Let go of the illusion
of the meaning of life.
Live inside of each moment
as a memory in time immortal,
extended by my hold over
the fairer side of lives
in which we once loved one another.
