Karma is an active currency,
rather than an act of courtesy.
Despite the search for equality,
it’s so often made to be
a narcissistic reasoning;
Kindness paid in special favours
through the receiving and returning of it.
There is such ugliness in the cruelty
that we so often do onto others
in those times of their deepest despair.
Perhaps the only reason why
we want to be so good to those around us
is because of how ugly we have seen
that cruelty to be when shown to us in kind.
