– Catalyst –
His heart was broken
from all of the cruelties
that he had forgiven,
burdened from all the turmoil
that he had endured.
There was such a sorrow
written in his childlike eyes,
enough to make him want
to end his beautiful mortal life.
He had tried and failed
enough times to live on,
to make the best of it
regardless of what his future
might bring to him.
I see myself reflected in his history,
those moments of my own decision,
and the confidence in me from others
that I needed to choose life again.
And so I will become the catalyst
to lead him back into the light,
the one to nurture his healing heart,
refusing to compromise his chance for change,
despite the weight of his deeper complications.
