Prose – Castles in the Sand

– Castles in the Sand –

I had a dream that you made us a home,
dug out our castle on a beach
of white sand and silver stone,
filled it with goods in secondhand,
and left me there alone
in the rising of the tides.

Onlookers came and went,
made their impermanent marks
while the waves crashed in;
Crumbling dreams around me,
sandcastles falling in upon me.
