– In The Moonless Night –

Star light,
so bright;
Moonless sky
I dream tonight.

I turn off all of
the bedroom lights,
to watch the glow
of your sleeping face,
then I turn away
to watch the stars emerge,
brightest one by one,
lesser stars in thousands at once.

As those stars unravel across the sky,
the years between us
become only starting points;
And though we have been drawn
toward those brightest points,
I will aim toward the lesser stars
to keep my universe alight.
