Prose – Predator

– Predator –

He moves through the fray
with a sharp kind of style
and a beguiling wit,
an exercise in his sadistic ecstasy,
shaping himself to the nature of a fantasy.

Lured closer by the scent of sweat on skin,
he seeks the frailty of the damaged,
the ones who haven’t yet learned
that a human touch can bring them
anything but harm,
the ones who are so used to that harm
that they seek it out for the sense of familiarity
for the comfort of habitually that it brings.
