Prose – Cannibals of Faith

– Cannibals of Faith –

We exist in a world where there is little difference between a bill of rights and a bill of sale. Our justice was a fragile creature, left with no choice but to blind herself from the atrocities that man had shown her.

1 million prayers in 1 million languages, 1 million voices cry out as one, and yet we are all silent in the night. Our history is drawn by these, the cannibals of faith, you that eat the body and drink the blood of your creator, the essence of your spiritual institution imbibed and imbued.

Some say that those who choose to sacrifice their lives for the sins of others are heroes and martyrs; The semantics of sacrifice are only further symptoms of our spiritual distance in a segregated society. It is known only to the outsiders the ultimate truth of what freedom that sacrifice brings.

Justice weeps for your judgements upon those who most harshly judge themselves. I will not fear what I have been in passing moments, nor pray falsehoods to your Gods’ forgiveness. Only will I more closely guard myself against the repetition of that futile future.
